Reception and Artist Talk: Thursday, Feb. 3, 5-7 p.m.
(The artist talk begins at 5:15 p.m. in the gallery.)

Ceramics artist Darien Johnson treats clay like a three-dimensional form of paint, as a material that can hold any form and express any idea when handled by a skilled user. Combining the tactile aspects of clay and ceramics with the digital aesthetics of the computer glitch, the smooth look of airbrushed graphics, and the wraparound form of decals, Johnson’s work fuses the contemporary and the traditional, the material and the digital, the handmade and the programmed in intriguing ways.
