For those interested in learning more about the tradition of the Ballet Folklórico, the PAC will be hosting a free virtual lecture on Thursday, April 28 at 6 pm. Join Dr. Angélica Castillo Reyna (PhD History, UNC Chapel Hill) for a virtual lecture discussing the origins of Ballet Folklórico in Mexico and the U.S. southwest. The lecture will explore the emergence of Ballet Folklórico during an era of post-revolutionary cultural and nationalistic revitalization in mid-20th century Mexico and will trace the emergence and significance of Ballet Folklórico within Mexican-American communities starting in the late 1960s.
