Understanding How Diversity, Inclusion, and Fairness Impacts Student Engagement

This workshop is designed to provide faculty and instructors with strategies to enhance the engagement of diverse student populations. Facilitators will define the broad scope of diversity and discuss how a comprehensive understanding of diversity helps foster more inclusive academic environments. Participants will examine a framework for developing cultural competency, explore identity development, discuss microaggressive behaviors, and describe how each impact the holistic engagement of students. Throughout this workshop, participants will reflect on ways in which their own biases influence interaction with students.
