Torres to our 2024 Critical Conversations event. Dr. Luis C. Torres is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at Temple University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2022. His work has studied a range of issues related to pretrial detention including the impact of COVID-19 on virtual hearings, the use of risk assessments in bail decisions, and the role of court actors in setting and/or denying bond. His work has been published in outlets such as Criminal Justice and Behavior and The Journal of Crime and Justice.
Dr. Torres will give his presentation, “Pretrial Justice: Bail, Reform, and Research” on April 8 at both campuses.
