Student-Instructor Rapport in Online Courses
BADGE: Evidence-Based Teaching
Facilitators: Dr. Abraham Flanigan, Assistant Professor, Curriculum, Foundations, and Reading and Dr. Lauren Barbeau, Faculty Developer, Center for Teaching Excellence
This workshop will supply classroom instructors with specific strategies they can use to build and maintain rapport with their students in face-to-face classes. We will learn about strategies that can be applied right at the beginning of the semester to build rapport and strategies that can be applied during the semester to maintain that rapport. Participants will also be invited to discuss obstacles to building student-instructor rapport and to reflect on their own rapport-building experiences.
