Salma Akter’s 2nd year in the Master’s in Fine Arts at Georgia Southern University inspired her rich utilization of textiles as a form of self expression. Through this medium she blends the narration of personal and collective stories from her upbringing in a conservative Bangladeshian environment. The Versatility of textile’s capacity to establish profound emotional connections and rich historical underpinnings, consistently hold her fascination.. Allowing her to portray the discrimination against women as well as the economic and prevailing political conditions of marginalized women, perpetuating the tradition of textiles art as a form of woman's art.
