Safe Space Training
Safe Space is a campus-wide initiative offering a visible message of inclusion, acceptance, and support to gender and sexual minority (GSM) individuals in the university community. The program offers participants an interactive two-hour orientation to raise awareness and knowledge of GSM issues and to suggest ways to serve as an Ally to GSM individuals. Following the orientation, participants receive a SAFE SPACE decal to display in their work or living space. Ally Consortium is an advanced training offered to those who have already completed Safe Space training. Safe Space and Ally Consortium are currently offered through the Counseling Center at the Statesboro location. Safe Space training on the Armstrong location is housed in the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
