RecycleMania Tournament: Statesboro Campus

Tournament Dates:
February 4- March 31

RecycleMania is a friendly tournament among universities in the US and Canada in which they compete to recycle  in a variety of categories. In 2017, Georgia Southern recycled 51,420 lbs. of paper, aluminum cans, plastic bottles and cardboard over the 8 week period. The Statesboro campus is competing again this year and we hope to improve our standings! Recycle your aluminum cans and plastic bottles, paper and cardboard in any of the 600 bins around campus and participate in our RecycleMania activities.

Get ready to “Get Caught Green Handed!” Students, faculty and staff caught recycling, drinking from a reusable mug, or engaging in other sustainable behaviors will be entered in a drawing to win prizes from the Tech Corner and to have their photos posted on social media.

Residence halls will compete with each other to recycle the most  to win the coveted RecycleMania trophy and a pizza and wings party.

Georgia Southern’s signature event this year will be the Recycled Boat Regatta on Lake Ruby at 6:30pm on March 27. Student teams will race boats that they construct from recycled materials to compete in speediest craft, best sinker and most superior team effort categories.

Look for the Center for Sustainability’s weekly lunch-time tabling events, featuring spin-the-prize-wheel for recycling trivia and other recycling games.
