DESCRIPTION:Please join us for this semester's Poverty Simulation sponsored
  and organized by the College of Behavioral & Social Sciences and the Coll
 ege of Education! This event will be held in the Nessmith-Lane Conference 
 Center Ballroom on Friday\, February 7 at Noon. Student/Participant Regist
 ration Form.\n\nEach semester (alternating campuses)\, we organize this ev
 ent to expand our community's thinking about poverty and its stress on ind
 ividuals and families living in poverty. Each participant is assigned a ro
 le (e.g. race\, age\, family\, single person\, child) and real-life circum
 stances (e.g. homeowner\, unhoused\, employed\, medical). Volunteers are a
 ssigned a community role (e.g. landlord\, police officer\, employer\, soci
 al services\, teacher\, pawnbroker). The simulation is based on Georgia's 
 poverty rates and other relevant statistics. \n\nQuotes from prior simulat
