DESCRIPTION:Lex Morgan Lancaster is a scholar\, professor\, and curator who
  focuses on queer\, trans\, anti-racist\, and crip contributions to the fie
 ld of contemporary art. Their published essays and book—Dragging Away: Quee
 r Abstraction in Contemporary Art—forge a queer formalist and materialist a
 pproach to contemporary abstraction. They are working on a second book focu
 sing on trans and nonbinary approaches to abstraction.\n\nLancaster is Assi
 stant Professor of Art History and Gallery Director at the University of So
 uth Carolina-Upstate. They direct the Art History minor\, and are affiliate
  faculty in Women’s and Gender Studies.\n\nLancaster received their PhD in 
 art history and visual culture studies from the University of Wisconsin-Mad
 ison in 2017.
