Galan Trio (Greece): Leading Through Music — Collaboration, Innovation, and Global Impact

Georgia Southern University's Averitt Foundation Speaker Series welcomes the Athens-based Galan Trio for a public presentation on international collaboration, artistic leadership, and interdisciplinary innovation in the performing arts.

Violinist Babis Karasavvidis, cellist Marina Kolovou, and pianist Petros Bouras will reflect on their decade-long career as cultural leaders navigating cross-continental partnerships, new commissions, and the intersection of the humanities, technology, and the arts. Drawing on their ongoing collaboration with Georgia Southern's Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music — which began during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since produced multiple recordings, dozens of university performances across the United States, and a sustained international artistic exchange — the trio will address themes of global leadership, interdisciplinary practice, and the capacity of artistic communities to sustain dialogue across national and cultural boundaries.

The presentation serves as a prelude to the world premiere of In Flux, a new immersive work for live ensemble and surround electronics composed by Georgia Southern faculty composers Martín Gendelman and John Thompson in close collaboration with the trio. The concert will take place on Friday, March 13 at the Ben Tucker Theater, Otis Johnson Cultural Arts Center.
