Kyle Hooten: Deconstructing Abject Complacency of Ascribed Gender
March 8-23
Reception: Friday, March 23, 5-7 p.m.
Funneling his experience as a Drag performer into his artwork, Kyle has created a series of works that address gender in today’s society. Taking stereotypically feminine craft materials and using them to adorn found objects that are stereotypically masculine, Kyle shows how we ascribe a gender to objects and then use them to reinforce our conception of gender stereotypes.
