How to Talk about Race in Educational Settings
BADGE: Professional Planning and Growth
Facilitators: Dr. Mark Taracuk, Counseling Center, Dr. Lauren Barbeau, Faculty Developer, Center for Teaching Excellence
The news is full of stories of the unlawful and unjust treatment that occurs to individuals based on race. While issues related to race are not new, it can be difficult for many individuals to talk about it. As we commit to growing ourselves to grow others, conversations about race invariably come up in a classroom or with students. This presentation is designed to help give you the tools to facilitate conversations related to race in the classroom. While this presentation is designed for those with limited experience talking about race in an educational setting, all individuals are welcome.
