Georgia Southern University Department of Music presents

New Music at Southern - International Collaboration Project, Guest Artist Armando Meriano Ensemble and Blauer Reiter, Munich, Germany, Guest Conductor

Featuring Maestro Armando Merino, Artistic Director of the Munich-based Ensemble Blauer Reiter, as he leads a group of graduate and undergraduate students and guest performers, this concert marks the beginning of a collaboration between Georgia Southern University’s Department of Music and the above-mentioned German ensemble.
Founded by Merino in 2014, Blauer Reiter is a young but highly dynamic and already clearly audible voice in Munich’s contemporary music scene. In its con-cert programs, the ensemble devotes itself to the music of the twentieth century including the performance of contemporary scores in close collaboration with composers of different cultural circles.
Through this collaboration across the Atlantic Ocean, we hope to welcome
Merino and (in the future) the members of his ensemble, as they bring a variety of freshly composed music, while providing our students with the extraordinary experience of learning from and  performing with a professional ensemble as they tackle the repertoire of our time.
