General Education Redesign Town Halls - Student Sessions

  • The core curriculum at Georgia Southern consists of all general education courses taken by undergraduate students. In addition to meeting state and regional requirements, these courses have the significant purpose of equipping students with a broad range of knowledge, skills, and values that characterize our institution and prepare them for career success and life-long learning.
  • The University System of Georgia Board of Regents recognized a need for a system-side redesign of the general education curriculum to meet the challenges and opportunities of rapidly-evolving career paths set in an increasingly global context. Their vision is for a general education curriculum that is cohesive and prepares students to adapt and pivot as workplace demands shift throughout their career. Beyond career success, they also place an emphasis on the importance of active participation as local and global citizens.
  • The GECC is offering a series of Town Hall meetings to collect suggestions and feedback from faculty, staff, students, and alumni as we initiate the redesign process at Georgia Southern. We have scheduled 31 sessions total across two weeks to make these discussions broadly accessible.
