Business, Affirmative Action, and DEI Initiatives After the 2023 Supreme Court Affirmative Action Case Lecture
Tuesday, November 14, 2023 5:30pm to 7pm
About this Event
On June 29, 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court severely limited the use of Affirmative Action Programs in College Admissions. What does this decision mean for DEI business strategies that have recently become deeply embedded in American corporate culture? PDEIBC members Stephanie R. Sipe and Rachel W. Smith will present the position of Major American Business Enterprises (MABE) in support of Affirmative Action in Education, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives in business, based on the Amici Curiae Brief filed by some 70 major U.S, corporations in the Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President & Fellows of Harvard University. MABE argues that their organizations are strengthened when their team members and leaders have rich individualized experience with people from different racial and ethnic backgrounds, and that University education remains an essential environment for fulfilling that need.
Come and learn more about the MABE’s arguments and their support.
The attendance of faculty and staff is encouraged, and proof of attendance will be provided to any students who choose to attend.
