[ EXHIBITION ] Derrick Buisch: Off Season

Center for Art & Theatre, University Gallery
233 Pittman Drive, Statesboro, GA

Monday, August 18, 2014 @ 8:00 am -
Friday, September 19, 2014 @ 5:00 pm

Off Season features imagery culled from pedestrian subjects including maps, album covers, roadside signs, and commercial products. Informed through his practice of maintaining sketchbooks, Buisch creates distinctive images that present an extensive exploration of graphic motifs. Often influenced by aspects of music, such as LPs and zines, Buisch’s paintings and drawings are simultaneously playful, celebratory, and subversive.

Buisch’s work has been shown at venues such as Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; Museum of Contemporary Art, Madison, WI; Muscarelle Museum of Art, Williamsburg, VA; The Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore; Mississippi State University, Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University; University of California-San Diego; Knoedler Gallery, NYC; and the London Biennale.
