William Willis: Paintings and Drawings explore the artists’ on-going relationship to both individual and universal experiences. Often focusing on correlations between the natural and metaphysical world, Willis creates timeless artworks that are balance sensitive brushwork with a bold handling of paint. Heavily influenced by the landscape, Willis transforms common shapes and forms to reflect a myriad of cultures.
Willis’ work has been shown at institutions such as the Phillips Collection, Washington, DC; Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; Baltimore Museum of Art; Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, NC; Tuscon Museum of Art; Addison Gallery of American Art, Andover, MA; Yale University Art Gallery; and many others.
Willis is represented by Howard Scott Gallery, NYC, and Hemphill Fine Arts, Washington, DC.
