GSU Jazz Band - Basically Basie - performing some of the great work of the Count Basie Orchestra

Everyone is cordially invited to the first concert of the academic year by the Georgia Southern University Jazz Band: Basically Basie. The band, under the direction of Bill Schmid, will be playing a concert that will focus mostly, but not exclusively, on the music performed and recorded by the great Count Basie Orchestra - the first modern big band. The concert will be free and open to all. Selections to be performed will be selected from the following tunes written and/or arranged for the Basie band: That Warm Feeling, Splanky, Kansas City Shout, Told You So, and On the Road to Mandalay. Other songs on the concert: Begin the Beguine, Brother Mister, Real Loud First Note Blues and You Are Too Beautiful.
