Excellent oral presentation and very informative.
Suggestions for future:
1. Presenter MUST turn on and use the microphone made available with speakers.
2. Presenter MUST ensure that the Power Point slides are prepared professionally.
In this instance, the background was light purple and the type face was slightly darker
purple, and the photos were extremely poor. Therefore, the PPT was nearly impossible
to read and the photos nearly non-existent as they blended into the background.
3. Usually a PPT presentation is adjacent and behind the speaker, which allows
the speaker to turn slightly, have a red-laser pointer and make reference to salient
topics contained in the PPT presentation. In this instance, the PPT was put beside
but in front of the speaker, which made it very difficult and cumbersome for the speaker
to have to lean way over the lectern or adjacent/behind the PPT screen and try to review
what was showing to the audience in the PPT presentation. This made is extremely
unprofessional and poor presentation of the facts presented in the PPT slides.
4. Presenter moved through the slides TOO quickly, so not only were the slides difficult to
read due to extremely poor color and no contrast of typeface to background, but the speed
at which the slides were changed was too fast.
5. Speaker needs to inform audience in advance that all questions will be answered at the
end of the presentation if that is what he/she decides. In this instance, questions were posed
throughout presentation which was a poor choice by speaker to allow this to happen.
6. If and when questions are posed by members of the audience, it is a good idea for speaker
to state: The question asked or posed is" restate what is the question for all to hear and
The presentation was great based upon the significant knowledge and first-hand experience of the
speaker who was intellectually and personally very engaged in the topic presented.
The technical aspects of the presentation, set forth in 1 - 5 above, was a considerable
drawback to the overall presentation. Therefore, dept. in charge should provide a "handout": of
professional presentation methods for a speaker and ensure that the PPT is placed properly, a
laser pointer provided to speaker, and that the PPT itself is prepared professionally and that
the contents are in high contrast so that persons can read the words, and give the speaker
guidance to slow down the change of screen, and the last slide should have QUESTIONS?
to inform the audience that now is the time to ask questions.
